I often wondered what it would feel like to “make it”
Turns out the things I loved with $3K in the bank are the same things I love today.
– Sunlight
– Morning flat white
– Time with friends and fam
– Running & calisthenics in nature
– Flow state from creative mental work
Funny how none of it requires millions.
Money’s great for:
1. Providing for your family
2. Removing chronic stress about bills
3. Giving you control over your time & location
And yes those things are huge, but they aren’t a magic formula for happiness.
If I had to give some advice to my 20 year old self, or anyone else with big goals I’d say:
How you practice is how you’ll play.
The mental patterns you establish on the way up will still be there after you hit whatever arbitrary goal you set for yourself.
To enjoy “one day” you first need to enjoy today.
So double down on appreciating the simple things.
Pay close attention to your thoughts.
Keep them positive and grateful.
Because one day you’ll hit your goals, and those little things will still be the stuff that makes life great.
But only if you’ve trained yourself to appreciate them along the way.
